IFS Parts Work: Responding to Climate Anxiety with Self-Leadership

This workshop, led by Lisa Ferguson, offers support for emotional processing of world events using the effective and empowering approach of IFS Parts Work.

This month we’ll focus on accessing Self-Leadership to respond to climate anxiety.

The climate crisis can evoke strong emotions and activate many parts. The practice of Self-Leadership begins with the practice of: Welcoming, Unblending, and Attending to parts.

We’ll start by welcoming and mapping the parts (e.g., manager parts that we most identify with in our actions, firefighter parts that want to numb and soothe, and exiled parts that carry overwhelming emotions such as grief, terror, rage, shame, helplessness).

Then we’ll have a chance to work with one part that most needs attention. Through the practice of unblending and attending to one part, Self presence and energy is evoked, bringing forth capacities including compassion, clarity, and courage.

As we distinguish between parts and Self, our wellbeing increases and we can be more effective in our actions. We’ll finish with an exploration of deep listening to Self to guide us in our response.

This workshop will:

  • Explore and map parts in relationship to responding to the climate crisis

  • Attend to one part that most needs attention

  • Engage in a practice to cultivate Self-Leadership

This workshop will be highly interactive and deeply transformative, providing you with skills and tools that you can apply both personally and professionally. This is why this workshop will not be recorded.

Part of an ongoing series connecting parts work with world events, you are welcome to attend any workshop. Familiarity with parts work is not necessary, but it may be helpful to know some of the basic principles.
