IFS Parts Work: Resilient Action in Troubled Times

This workshop, led by Lisa Ferguson, offers support for emotional processing of world events using the effective and empowering approach of IFS Parts Work.

This month, we will explore how, in the space between hope and hopelessness, there lies a third way: resilient action.

As crises unfold around us,  many of us oscillate between the poles of despair and forced optimism. This session invites a deeper inquiry: what becomes possible when we access the steady presence of Self and act from that place?

In Internal Family Systems (IFS), “Self” refers to the core of our being that is not a part, but an undamaged, unshakable, and inherently wise aspect of our core being. When Self is in the lead, we can meet the world’s turbulence with compassion, courage, and clarity rather than with reactivity or collapse. Self-Leadership allows us to engage wisely, even when certainty is not available.

Resilient action begins with how we relate to our parts: by unblending, welcoming, and listening to them, we create the inner conditions for clarity and grounded responsiveness. Every emotion, every protective impulse, becomes a doorway into deeper Self-connection and capacity.

Together, we’ll practice:

  • Unblending from protective parts and distinguishing Self from Self-like parts

  • Accessing Self qualities such as calm, curiosity, compassion, and courage

  • Exploring how to show up with integrity and creativity in response to world events

This is about creating enough space inside ourselves so that we can respond from a resilient, wise and attuned place to both the pain and the possibility of these times.

When we lead from Self, we become more powerful agents of mutual flourishing, capable of engaging with complexity in grounded and skillful ways.

This workshop will:

  • Learn how Self-Leadership can support resilient action

  • Engage in experiential practices to deepen inner connection

  • Apply IFS tools to your personal and professional response to global challenges

This will be an interactive and transformative experience. It will not be recorded to preserve confidentiality and allow for full participation.

Part of an ongoing series connecting parts work with world events, you are welcome to attend any session. No prior experience with IFS is required, though familiarity with basic concepts may be helpful.
